Where Do I Come From?

On this page, we can find a six and a half minute audio recording of John Rice, Wasauksing First Nation, speaking about the Miikaans teachings.

“A main core of what the Feather Carriers is about is called The Miikaans Teachings. The Miikaans teachings are essentially the Anishinaabe or Ojibwe teachings on life. And it’s the story of how we begin life as Spirit coming into physical form. And how that’s done with Creator and how this is an agreement of how we’re going to enter into this journey. That’s the beginning of it, and then it goes into the seven stages of life, until it comes to the Spirit leaving the body and going back into the Spirit world.” – Ed Connors

These are life teachings from the Anishinaabe perspective. We can each ask ourselves: What are the life teachings of my people? Do I know someone I can ask to learn more about this?” More detail about these teachings can be found by scrolling down on the same page for more.
